Caten, 2012 a levitating kinetic sound sculpture by David Letellier for Saint Sauveur chapel (video)

Caten is a levitating sculpture, determined by gravity and guiding the evolution of a sound composition. 300 fine wires suspended from two ropes, connected themselves at each end to a slowly rotating arm, form an evanescent surface which interacts with the architecture… The sound composition is inspired by the medieval solmisation prayers, especially the first verse of “Ut Queant Laxis”… At each turn, the engines emit one of the first 4 notes of the scale (Ut, Re, Mi, Fa), creating a sequence of intervals, constantly reconfigured. Low frequencies resonate in the space and emphazise the transcendental character of a place once dedicated to faith.

the 365 Knitting Clock which can measure time in a three dimensional way.  Yes, indeed, this exquisite clock is stitching the time as it goes by. Knitting 365 days, 24 hours a day this clock is translating time through the growth of knitted material. Time is manifested in a 3D way as this clock by the end of the year produces a two meters long scarf making in such a way time tangible.

There is no doubt that time is a measuring system, which enables us to calculate and organize our lives. It’s an inseparable part of our existence and it’s incorporated in our everyday routine in every single possible way. There is none who haven’t taken time into to account.

Dream Thoughts

The book “dream thoughts” includes a collection of literary, philosophical, psychological, and scientific texts that give an insight into different perspectives about the dreams.

To facilitate access to the elusive subject, the book as a model of a dream is the dream conceived. Analogous to a dream, are joined in the break from reality to take an action, each is different excerpts. These are by threads which are linked to key words, cross-linked. The threads visualize the confusion and the fragility of dreams.

To five pages of illustrations of threads can be found. They are oriented in structure and color of the keywords the opposite side, making an abstract image created from the dream of dreams.

In addition, there are five pages on which a meaningful statement is embroidered with a text the other side in the paper. One can not read it, since the actual surface of the document inside the page is folded. This is the mystery of dreams and dream interpretation aspect of expression.
